PLACEMAKING: WATER TOWER BARN ARTS & HERITAGE CENTER

Restore the historic Water Tower Barn as the centerpiece of a vibrant community gathering place that celebrates Scandia's history, arts, and cultural heritage. The project includes a reconstructed historic barn, museum exhibits, performance and event spaces, educational programming, and family-friendly outdoor amenities.

STORYTELLING: PRESERVE AND SHARE SCANDIA'S STORY

Connect residents and visitors to Scandia's unique history through the Heritage Trail, interpretive exhibits, storytelling projects, educational programs, and preservation initiatives that bring our community's past to life.

CELEBRATING: ARTS, CULTURE, AND COMMUNITY EXPERIENCES

Create accessible opportunities for people of all ages to gather, learn, and connect through concerts, history programs, cultural celebrations, workshops, exhibits, and community events, including the Levitt AMP Scandia Music Series.

Scandia Heritage Alliance is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve and celebrate Scandia's rich history, culture, arts, and rural character. The following values guide our work:

SENSE OF PLACE: We embrace the charming, unique character of our community, recognizing its roots as a home to Ojibwe and Dakota tribes, Minnesota's first Swedish settlement, a historic center of mercantile business and agriculture – as well as its relationship to the Wild and Scenic St. Croix River and Minnesota Lake Country.

PRESERVATION: We believe that preserving and renovating our historic resources enhances our community character, links us to our roots, and creates a more vibrant community.

COLLABORATION: We believe that working together with groups and individuals who share similar values and goals – both in Scandia as well as throughout the St. Croix River Valley and neighboring communities -- is essential to achieving our mission.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION: Through shared stories, the joy of live music, and welcoming cultural experiences, we bring people together—strengthening connections among residents, neighboring communities, and visitors while celebrating the spirit of Scandia.

ADVOCACY: We will advocate for our goals at every level of government, within our community, and throughout the region, becoming a strong voice for our mission.
